was taking long walks as advised by his physician. Radiological examination showed that the disease was confined to the left lung in the upper and the middle zones. No evidence of infiltration could be made out, the lesion had almost completely fibrosed and was badly pulling on the trachea and the aorta. The contralateral lung was extraordinarily radioluscent. However, contrary to what one would expect, the left side of the diaphragm was moving much more freely than the right, as a matter of fact the limited excursions on the right attracted attention. No previous history of pleurisy on the right side was forthcoming and no radiological evidence of disease could be found in that lung. On enquiry it was found from the patient's physician that some prolonged expiration was noted by him on the right side.
